Low Rent has made a name for itself by playing roots-based rock ''n'' roll throughout Chicago since 1997. With members hailing from New York, New Jersey, Missouri, downstate Illinois and Texas, Low Rent draws from disparate influences. Nevertheless, the common thread throughout Low Rent''s music is a wish to acknowledge the contributions of great artists while forging their own musical identity.
Low Rent has just released its second full-length CD "What Can''t Be Said" (2005). The new release was recorded and produced by Clem Snide bassist Brendan Fitzpatrick and is the first with the new line-up: Nathan Chew, vocals :: John Hayes, bass :: Jeff Eberhard, drums :: Scott Tracey, guitar :: and Erik Friedman, harmonica, guitar. The new album builds on their critically-acclaimed 2001 debut "Can''t Win if You Lose".
