Luxocrush is dedicated to creating music of power, integrity, and beauty. Luxocrush was formed in 1993 in San Francisco by Keith St. Thomas (songwriting, guitars and vocals), with Ginna Macaraeg (bass), and Johnny Graziadei (drums).
Luxocrush are pure rock and roll craftsmanship mixed with contemptuous lyrics and raw power stompbox guitar, drum, and bass. The sound is mysterious, boundless, intoxicating and powerful. Luxocrush is a mallet of joy, and a cultivation of power. It is smooth and surreal, like the dying strands of a far-off scream. It is the brilliant light of salvation just before a fatal impact.
In 1996 the band released their first album for Sesha Press, SUPER MODIFIED. The album was recorded at the House of Faith in Oakland, by the institution that is Bart Thurber. The album contains four studio tracks and two songs from a live performance recorded at the The Edge in Palo Alto in January 1996.
The second album, SLEEPERHOLD, was release in 1997. It is an intense and dark album, filled with violent imagery and violent emotions. The album includes a version of the Siouxsie & the Banshees classic, NIGHTSHIFT. These songs are dark and menacing, but they are also songs of exquisite beauty and have a melodic resonance that is rare in modern rock.
The latest release, HIGHER THAN TEN HIPPIES, is an album dedicated to a pure rock and roll ethic, openly contemptuous of all things sacred and serious. This album was the debut of a new bass player, Paul Zimmerman, of Mute Angst Envy fame.
Luxocrush call the San Francisco Bay Area their home. The year looks to be filled with shows, new recordings, and more than a few trips to Vegas.
Keith St. Thomas and Paul Zimmerman are the lead guitar player and bass player of Lisa Dewey & The Lotus Life.
