Details:
Marc Antonio, the electronic artist behind Sykotrax, doesn''t live in the past. House Music, he says, is not about the way things used to be, it''s about what''s happening today and what might be going on tomorrow. He''s a true believer in house music in and of itself, not someone who sees it as just some disposable style of dance music with its better days long since gone.

"For me, the reason I write music specifically, is because I love house music," he says. "Ultimately it boils down to a celebration of house music, not a celebration of disco or jazz or funk or all the things that influenced me. I''m all about celebrating what i do, because that''s what I love. What I am is house, is electronica, i''m this thing - I live it."

Finding a natural affinity for working with drum machines and synthesizers, Marc Antonio quickly learned the rudimentary ropes of production.

He first became mesmerized by house while growing up in chicago during the mid 1980s and he hasn''t looked back since. he''s become a true renaissance man of house music, a well-respected dj, a prolific producer and remixer. A well-respected figure in the underground community, he''s built a reputation as a forward-thinking artist who refuses to be saddled with one simplistic description of house music. Thoughtful, philosophical and deeply self-aware of what he''s trying to do, Marc Antonio makes house music that can make you "jack" and make you think at the same time. Marc Antonio abstract productions are miles away from the raw trax of early Chicago, but the connections are there.

Marc Antonio''s inspiration for Viaggio di Vita was the old acid and house tracks he used to listen to, but with a modern, more abstract take on the sound. "Viaggio di Vita" initially minimal, synthetic sound signaled a bold shift in dance music, and "the trax" has been praised for it''s mature, experimental take on house. As "Viaggio di Vita" proves, Marc Antonio isn''t using the platform of an artist album to venture off into genre twisting dribble that is fashionable for today''s dance music artists.

"There''s still a lot more to be said with house music," he says. "While maintaining its integrity, you can push it as much as you want, but don''t move backward--as if something that brought you here is somehow more legitimate."
