mank, the brainchild of the front man timothy mank, slams home their modern rock sound with authority. this four piece band strips it down to the basics in one tightly wrapped package - solid pop tunes, infectious melodies and superior musicianship. bringing to the table his strength as a solo singer-songwriter, timothy sought out other passionate and talented musicians to present his songs with a power-packed punch. at the end of 2000, timothy released his sophomore album entitled, "drive", and made his mark on the los angeles music scene by winning "outstanding rock artist of the year" (2000 - los angeles music awards). not stopping there, he was then nominated for "outstanding male vocalist of the year" (2001- los angeles music awards) and for "best male performer of the year" (2002 - orange county music awards). timothy embarks on a new direction with his new group, mank, and their latest release "evolution".
in support of his cd, "drive", this past spring timothy toured colleges across the mid-west reaching new audiences and attracting many newly devoted fans. while he felt "drive" was an excellent cd, timothy realized it was time to rethink his musical direction if he wanted to truly make his mark. he changed the band lineup and added a more aggressive rock style to the mix. that increased energy and rawness has been captured on his latest release, "evolution." even streamlining his own name to embody the new sound and band, mank was born.
with timothy''s powerful vocals and energetic guitar it is impossible to ignore this highly entertaining performer. as the songwriter of the group, he pours his heart and soul into the music, as if each live performance would be his last. flanked by phil ernst on lead guitar, geo valle on bass and jason "rosy" rosenquist on drums, this power group packs quite a punch. phil has the amazing ability to add the perfect texture to the songs complimenting timothy''s rhythm guitar and melody lines and then rip flawlessly through solos at the drop of a hat. meanwhile, rosy meticulously lays down the backbone of the songs with his heavy-duty dose of rock drumming. finally, geo is the glue that holds the whole thing together with his bass lines weaving in and out with the vocal melodies, the guitars and simultaneously complimenting the pounding rhythm of the drums. each band member plays a vital role, and their combined talents deliver the music with full force to the audience to digest.
