13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, FOLK: Folk Pop

Details:
Maria Spence will take you on a roller coaster ride as she sings straight to your deepest emotions. She can rouse a listless room with her husky tones. And she can hush a rowdy crowd with her warm, woeful sounds. One moment Maria''s delivering some of the gustiest down-home blues to be found in Memphis, and then she''ll sweetly jump into a soulful ballad that tugs at your heartstrings. All''s fair in love and music, and there''s no place her voice won''t take you.

Her first CD release, "Better Days", shows her talents as a songwriter with thirteen original tunes full of the universal themes of life and love. "Where Do You Fall" is a beautiful ballad of hope and the Fleetwood Mac influenced "Hard Habit to Break" tells the darker side of a clandestine relationship. The Memphis sound comes out on "Trouble" and "Mind your P''s & Q''s" and "House on the Hill" is a classic country/folk song.

Step back Loretta, there''s a new singer in town and she is on a roll, backed by a rockin'' little band. Maria Spence fronts a group of passionate pickers with a stage presence and power in her voice that commands attention. This gal can sing. Not only can she sing, but she can probably break glass, or at least do a Memorex commercial. With a voice capable of sending shivers up your spine, she covers Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams as if the songs were written for her. Miss Spence also has a good number of original tunes that can stand up to anything you hear from Music Row these days, but these songs have a Memphis mojo workin'' for them. -- Review by Nancy Apple
