Melanie
This bright and talented performer was born on October 13, 1990 in New York City. Melanie began her singing career at the age of seven. Melanie recognizes a number of influences, including her ultra supportive parents who told her, " You can quit everything else but you can never give up on sing and piano." Melanie also appreciates her first choir teacher, Mr. John Dagbovi Senakwami at her former catholic elementary school, Our Lady of Good Council . He gave her the opportunity to pick up her first microphone and gave her the chance to sing at numerous church concerts, weddings, and events that are very significant to Melanie. She then went on to the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan, where she was part of the schools musical theater showcases. Melanie is now a freshmen at the school majoring in Vocal. Melanie loves her school and credits her vocal teachers who inspire her to pursue her singing career.
In February of 2004, under the direction of Melanie''s current piano teacher, Mr. Gary Strauss, Melanie went on to write and sing the songs on her current self titled CD, " Melanie." This CD showcases her talent, not only as a singer, but as a songwriter as well. She penned three tracks for " Melanie," including " Mira a mis ojos," " No one hear but us," and " Latin Trance," which she co-wrote with her brother Angel Matos Jr. Melanie is also putting the final pieces together on her latest song " Understand" which she wrote the lyrics and composed the music on the piano. Melanie''s experience in the recording studio for the first time was the most challenging but the most exciting time in her life. The final product is an album infused with the confident vocals and lyrics.
The ballads are deep and the up-tempo tracks are bumping and make you want to dance. Her music strikes the perfect balance between attitude and innocence, which is exactly what Melanie is all about. Melanie loves to sing, compose music, and play the piano. Melanie has been blessed from above in more ways than one. She is sweet, charming, mature and down to earth.
