Details:
The Mighty Orq (pronounced ork) is a power trio from Houston, Texas. This band blends stellar songwriting with soaring guitars and soulful vocals to create a style of music that is unique and powerful. Their goal is not only to write songs with substance, but also to make music that resonates within the heart and mind of the listener.

After three years of extensive touring including three European tours, two Houston Press Music Awards, a solo all-acoustic CD "Prayer Book" and live CD "Ghost Train," the 24 year old Orq decided it was time for he and band mates Westside Johnny(bass guitar, keyboards) and Matt Johnson (drums, vocals) to record a studio CD. This release, "Milk Money," is a unique blend of rock and soul with a well refined pop sensibility. "I''m really excited about the new material we''re playing. We''re sort of going for a ZZ Top meets King''s X at the club where U2 is playing kind of feel. We wanted to make a record that speaks to people on a larger scale but still stays true to the kinds of music that influenced us and that we love."

The record, co-written by all three band members, displays a level of singularity not often found in such a young group. The CD opens with out-and-out rocker "Devil At Your Back," the bands homage to the riff-rock of the seventies, and then segues into the funky second track, "Unholy Getdown" in the spirit of Stevie Wonder''s "Sir Duke." The songs "Heaven Sent," "Long Gone," and "2 a.m." explore the band''s pop leanings, while songs like "Sweet In Between, "Won''t Let Go," and "Walk Away" convey a sense of ethereal rock ''n'' roll. "Carry Me Home" and "Don''t Wanna" maintain a gospel feel, and tracks "She Lets Me Lie" and "Weak Ender" round out the album with catchy hooks, and powerful grooves.

What does the future hold for Mighty Orq? "We''ve been playing a lot of regional shows promoting the release of "Milk Money." We sat down as a band and started writing together for "Milk Money", and our music is going in a direction that we really like. We want to try and keep up the pace of our writing so we can have material for another CD soon. Really give the people their money''s worth. Whether we''re recording, playing for four people, or for four thousand, we want to give it everything we got. We really want folks to come away from the show moved and inspired. That''s how music makes us feel, and we just want to share that with people."
