WHAT THEY''RE SAYING:

"It''s The Butchies meets Nelly Furtado on a sunny day at the park!" - - Ross Wantland, GirlZone, Champaign-Urbana, IL

"From the first song, aptly titled ''Go!'', Millenary lives up to the album title. The Devo drum track, hard-hitting lyrics, and vocal layering (think early B-52''s meets The Breeders) will get you up. - - Ava Johnson, https://www.tradebit.com

"Lead singer Sarah Stollak teases with a playful girlie voice, but behind that innocence are lyrics laced with cyanide." - - Yvonne Glasgow, Music Revue, Grand Rapids, MI

ABOUT HIGH ENERGY:

Put together over a year with a rotating cast of characters, the songs on High Energy span from careful studio recordings to styles that are live, raw, and stripped-down. Sarah chose the theme and color orange to represent high energy - active, vibrant and bright.

WHAT DOES MILLENARY MEAN?

Millenary refers to a millennium, or a period of 1000 years. Some dictionaries provide the definition "in command of a thousand men" (or women, if you prefer). Followers of millenary are millenarians.

Millinery (pronounced the same but spelled differently) refers to fancy hats, particularly for women. Gene Kelly sings in the rain past a millinery shop. People who make hats are milliners.

SARAH''S DREAMS:

Sarah wants to rock and roll all night, and knit every day.

HISTORY:

Millenary has been a three-piece, rock duo, and solo act. Started in 1996 by singer/songwriter Sarah Stollak, Millenary lasted about a year before each of the members moved their separate ways. After a two-year hiatus in Washington DC, Sarah returned to Lansing MI, in 1999, with a new knowledge of barre chords and a fresh attitude, ready to rock. An advocate for the DIY attitude and independant art, Sarah is also an organizer of Ladyfest Lansing, part of the worldwide Ladyfest phenomenon.

Shawn Doolittle has been providing the steady and rockin'' drums for Millenary since 2001. Tammy Cook completes the lineup on bass, bringing years of experience playing and performing.
