Sandel is a 20 year old Australian singer, songwriter whose voice appears familiar, yet original, offering an exciting new sound for today’s music scene.
She seeks to explore the realities of our chaotic, modern life, with all its joys and imperfections, going beyond the familiar ground of ‘unrequited love''.
Her soon-to be released EP ‘Story of My Life’, reflects on these realities with its distinctive self-written tracks, full of rich vocals and memorable melodies. Sandel’s lyrics resonate with their observations …yearning to stay still in the moment, whilst the world continues to revolve at an increasingly hectic pace.
Sandel’s life has always involved formal music training but it wasn’t until her first year at high school, in the small Australian town of Mudgee, that she discovered song writing. In fact, this was thanks to her music teacher, who introduced his class to the world of guitar and popular music. It was here that Sandel began to express herself through song, building on many years of piano lessons and a new -found love of the guitar.
Alongside her musical development, Sandel has been influenced by an eclectic mix of sounds: The Police, pop poets Simon & Garfunkel, ELO, Tracy Chapman as well as the pop hits of her generation. It is from these artists that she has learnt the importance of having a strong, mind-catching melody accompanied by a powerful lyrical message.
Together with her music, Sandel continues to study law at Sydney University, hoping to get as much out of her life as possible. However her true desire is to share her music with others.
