Fred Sokolow is well-known for writing over a hundred guitar instruction books and DVDs, and he''s also been a part of the west coast bluegrass scene, playing banjo and Dobro and mandolin, for decades. He has a jazz quartet CD and DVD available, and this CD further illustrates his jazz/swing mastery, as Fred sings and plays his guitar interpretations of songs written by Fats Waller, the great stride pianist/singer. This set includes Fats'' greatest hits as well as many little known gems. Fred usually includes the seldom-heard introductory verses and, sometimes solo, sometimes with his quartet, has a great time with this infectious, excellent batch of tunes.
