Missy Thomas-Schmit is a classically trained concert pianist and cellist who has expanded her abilities to create many different sounding styles that maintain the classical idea yet branch out into other new and also familiar grooves. While classical music is her favorite to play and record, her love for Christ and her passion for the Gospel has led her to create music in a way that allows her to grow musically and spiritually without compromise. Missy composes all original material with the exception of the biblical text in some of the songs. She will usually perform each instrument herself in the studio while recording, but welcomes other musicians to come and add their ideas and musicianship to her projects. The cello is featured frequently in her music, and it adds a unique and powerful edge to the intensity.
Missy currently lives in Adairsville, Georgia, in the northwest region of the state, and is a wife and mother of two. She is attending Shorter College in Rome, GA to finish her degree of Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. Her musical experience ranges from classical training and performing on the piano and the cello to several major pop/rock gigs in Hollywood and the southern California area. She now has a private studio in Georgia where she teaches piano and cello. She is the choir director at her church and a musician in her church''s praise and worship band.
Morning Star was recorded in Calhoun, Georgia, at Echota Records. Missy wishes to thank Ed Gowens, President, and Tim Hicks, Sound Engineer for their intense concentration on this project, for their patience and their extreme musical and recording talent to make this CD a powerful experience.
