Artsy acoustic songwriter, Cris Kelly, plants his organic sound in the bed of Americana Music. His richly textured voice brings to life his bluegrass flatpicking, folksy fingerpicking, and slide guitar expertise. Weaving sonorous melodies and storytelling lyrics, he cultivates colorful songs that speak to the human experience.
Historically, Cris grew up in rural Minnesota in a musical family, listening to Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, and Guns N Roses. However, it wasn''t until living in Duluth, Minnesota in 2001 that he discovered the indescribable pleasure of playing and writing country/bluegrass music. After playing in a short-lived North Country bluegrass band called Stone''s Throw, he moved to Oregon and began incorporating the styles of westcoast indie-songwriting into the traditional sound he''d come to love and appreciate.
Cris Kelly continues to create music in Ashland, Oregon with his band, One Horse Shy, and on his own in the shadowy mix of the Portland music scene.
