Details:
Troy first heard jazz from the "Charlie Brown" programs on television as a small child. As he grew older, he picked up playing clarinet in school and the guitar on his own. Combining his formal training with his personal passion for music, he began composing songs at the age of 15.
As Troy matured musically, he tried his hand at composing jazz. His passion kept him composing and playing until he found musicians who would play with him. He went through many attempts at keeping a band together.
In 1995, Troy formed a band of very talented musicians from his church. They became Praise Age.
David Heinkel, the percussionist, shares Troy’s love for jazz-fusion and showed a knack for wonderful “ear candy” percussion using all but the tradition drum kit.
Scott Crosby’s saxophones became the main voice of Praise Age when he showed a natural inclination for improvisation with impeccable intonation.
