Dr. Bird received his Ph.D. in Family Studies from Oregon State University in 1990. Previously he obtained a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a bachelors degree in Child Development and Family Relations from Brigham Young University. He also graduated from Ricks College with an associates degree. He currently has a private clinical practice in Corvallis, Oregon. Dr. Bird is the past President of the Oregon Council on Family Relations and served a three-year term as a board member for the Oregon Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. David received honors in teaching while a graduate student at BYU and OSU. Both honors are given annually to faculty members, but he was given these awards as a student. At OSU he was given the “Professor to the Term” award by the honor society. He is a well-known public speaker throughout the Pacific Northwest on marriage and family topics as well as personal change and other motivational topics. His newest venture is “Stand and Deliver” as workshop focused on teaching participants how to increase their skills as presenters and public speaking. He has been marred to his wife, Sherri, for 30 years this July, and they are the parents of three wonderful children.
