Mark and Dave are veterans of the South Florida music scene. Dave was a longtime member of local legends The Broken Spectacles( alongside local notables Ed Hale and Matt Sabatella), as well as the bands The New Americans, Flamingo, Souptown, and No Busfare Johnson and the Perceptions. Mark was a founding member of the well regarded band The Girls as well as the aforementioned Souptown. Mark and Dave join forces once again on Mortal Engines "The Longing", a vehicle for their eclectic songwriting styles. From the ballads "Mama''s Got The Blues", "Heart of Hearts", "Twilight on the Dancefloor", and "Christmas in Miami", to the humor leavened big top themed rockers "Marlena" and "Round and Round", the albums songs are sparkling and evocative. Other cuts include the breezy country-rock of "Life Alone", the lovelorn "Caroline", and the elegiac "Short Timers."
