BLUES: Rockin'' Blues, BLUES: Delta Style
Details:
The "Mudslide" blues band was formed with the intention of bringing the Mississippi Delta sound of Robert Johnson and Son House to the new millenium. Though they are based in the blues, they add a more up to date, groovin'' band sound to the mix, much in the same way Muddy Waters and Howlin'' Wolf did a half a century ago.
Based in the San Francisco bay area, the band consists of: Tony Lemieux on vocals, guitar, and harmonica, John Crowhurst on guitar and mandolin, Ian Luke on drums and Larry Van Winkle on bass. Influences include the afore-mentioned plus: Buddy Guy, the Allman Bros., SRV, John Mayall''s Bluesbreakers and Cream.
The idea and formation of "Mudslide" was concieved by Tony, who in 2003 became obsessed with digging up cd''s of many old school blues artists like Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James and Lightening Hopkins (who''s song "California Mudslide" sparked the name of the band). Since then, "Mudslide" has been performing at venues and festivals around the bay area such as "Tradewinds" in Cotati, and the "Tatoo''s & Blues Festival" in Santa Rosa.
"Mudslide" has also just released their debut full length cd titled (no suprise), "The Mudslide Blues".
