Details:
The Muggabears play unique, sometimes-noisy, sometimes-pristine, art-pop, influenced by everything from No Wave to surf to John Coltrane.
The Muggabears began, in spirit, the day Travis Johnson and Kevin Frost first hung out, which was also the first day of summer, 1994. With a youth group they went to ride go-carts and eat pizza, as junior high kids did in the post-Nirvana mid-90''s. Though Travis did his best to annoy Kevin, and Kevin, two years his senior, would respond with terms no 7th grader should ever hear, such as "compulsive liar" and "fisticuffs", the two eventually began playing music together, demonstrating mutual love for hitting "play" and "record" buttons.
Fall of 2000, Kevin at school in New York, Travis at school in Oklahoma, neither had any knowledge of Austin Stephens. After graduation, however, Kevin moved to Norman where Travis was finishing up and had met Austin at a show the two had played together (Travis had begun playing solo shows around town under the name Muggabears). 6 months later the three began playing together, hitting the road, and releasing this record.
Since then, Ryan "Dishe" Becker has found his way to the throne of keyboards and Emily "Bruiser" Ambruso has become heiress to the bass guitar legend Kevin left behind when he moved to full-time guitar.
To top things off, The Muggabears moved to New York, where oppurtunity is always only a car break-in away!
