Mukund''s Bio:

Mukundan (Mux) Narasimhan is a thin films process technologist by profession who is passionate about music. When he is not working with OLEDs, Si, Ge, PVD or CVD, he can be found sitting at his piano/keyboard improvising or working on a composition. He is steadily carving a name for himself as a serious musician in the SF bay area.

Mux''s musical journey began when he joined the IIT-Madras music band as a keyboardist. The band won several awards throughout India in the inter-collegiate cultural scene. His original composition Vaarayo Vasanthamey won the first prize at BITS-Pilani culturals in 1995. As a keyboardist he has accompanied many well-known artists including P.B. Srinivas, T.M. Soundararajan, A.V. Ramanan, Music Director Deva and has played for some Chennai TV programs like "Metro Aattam". He completed the Trinity College of Music Grade IV- Theory exams in Madras, during his second year at IIT. While at Auburn University in Alabama, he underwent Jazz training with Dr. Cazz Patrick at the Auburn University Department of Music.

Mukundan''s original compositions have been well received at the semi-annual piano recitals where he performs them along with classical piano pieces. He has made his mark as a composer, keyboardist and singer in the Indian music scene in the bay area. A feather in his cap was the first prize in the Composers Today competition conducted by The Music Teachers'' Association of California in June 2000 for his original composition Pranava. True to its meaning, Pranava transforms mere notes into a blissful divine consciousness. He is undergoing classical piano training with Dr. Irina Prilipko Morgan. More than a music teacher, she is his friend, philosopher and guide.

He has scored the background music for several plays staged by NAATAK in the Bay Area. His other projects include the musical score for a documentary, "For Straight Only", by the Atlanta-based People TV. This documentary was nominated for HBO''s short film awards. He won rave reviews for his melodious composition "Eththanai Vendum", which aired on Mostly Tamil, the popular Bay Area Tamil Radio Show, as a part of the Father''s Day special. He is taking Carnatic Vocals training under Smt. Suguna Purushothaman in Chennai and Sri. P.V. Natarajan in the bay area.
