Details:
"I was impressed the first time I met and heard Carli Muñoz. He is an outstanding pianist and composer (...) When Carli approached me about recording, I said yes, If I could co-produce his album (...) I think you too will be impressed by Carli Muñoz".

Eddie GĂłmez, 2003

"Both Sides Now (...) is a jazz jewel in the whole sense of the word (...) pours cohesion, fluidity, feelings and a symbiosis between the Puerto Rican protagonists as you haven''t heard them before in a Cd of this style (...). The phrasing, the melody and the dialogue between both artists brings a fresh and curious air to the repertoire".

Jorge Meléndez. (2003). Escenario / El Vocero; San Juan, P.R.

" A delivery that exudes a particular chemistry of much feelings and sensibility, as if pianist Carli Muñoz and bassist Eddie Gómez had shared -in another life- their love and respect for swing, blues, improvisation and other elements inherent in good jazz(...) I got three surprises. I found a fabulous club, where the food was terrific and the music was in a high level with Carli and his trio. We met, we talked, and the different influences on Carli -such as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and Bud Powell- resulted obvious to me, but most of all I liked the fact that Carli was developing his own voice in jazz, explained Eddie Gómez".

Jaime Torres Torres, El Nuevo DĂa (01/13 /2004), San Juan P.R.

As if we were in New York witnessing a be-bop or hard-bop or swing recital at the Iridium Jazz Club & Restaurant or at the basement of the Village Vanguard, the audience went dumb to the first cord Carli played at the grand piano(...) His block cords, his dominion over the octaves, his fine digitation, and his expressive phrasing in tunes such as "Be my love","Katira Waltz", -a romantic and passionate, pastoral love confession to his wife Katira- and his version of Consuelo VelĂĄzquez'' BĂ©same Mucho earned the unanimous applause from a crowd that at the end did not know how to exit the event.".

Jaime Torres Torres, El Nuevo DĂa (01/16 /2004), San Juan, P.R.

"The desire to help the masses on the island better appreciate jazz has united the artistic expressions of Old San Juan''s "piano man" and those of a pioneering Puerto Rican bassit bred in NY whose resume includes playing with Miles Davis and Bill Evans(...)

(...) the music flows naturally with a comon thread uniting the beautiful melodies, the phrasings and solos. (...) the listener can truly appreciate the brilliance of Gómez and Muñoz'' creative and expressive musical dialogue.

For Gómez, his collaboration with Muñoz marks the first step in their plan to push jazz in Puerto Rico (...) Both Sides Now is an impressive album that overflows with originality, fluidity and sentimentality, a truly remarkable artistic offering that gives new meaning to locally-produced jazz".

Ian Malinow (2004). Portfolio / The San Juan Star. San Juan , P.R.

"Carli Muñoz must be one of the finest pianists alive".

Jazz Digger.

-"A beautiful and sophisticated record(...)".

Rafael Vega Curry (2003). Jazz / El Nuevo DĂa, San Juan, P.R.

Carli Muñoz is a gifted, pianist/composer, whose interpretative musical strength comes from his vast and diverse experience along with his deep knowledge and early influences of the main elements of jazz: its Afro-American and Caribbean roots and it''s dynamic metamorphosis that runs from post-roaring 20''s to our present time.

This talented artist was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Early in his career, c.1960, Carli got his shot to play regularly with the jazz veterans that were performing regularly at San Juan jazz nightspots. Among some of those musicians were; bassist Freddy Thomas, late legendary percussionist SabĂș Martinez (who had featured guest appearances in many of the early recordings of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers), drummers Monchito Muñoz and Joe Morello, and the late veteran trumpet player Juancito Torres.

His need for continuous exploration of all musical genres and styles took him to performing world wide with a variety of artist which today influences his unique style of improvisation. This unique style - a delicate balanced of aggressiveness and sensitivity and a deep innate understanding of the nature of jazz, along with his unique ability to seamlessly combine a wide spectrum of music into the jazz idiom - has converted him in one of the most refreshing and listenable upcoming pianist in the contemporary jazz music scene.

The versatility of his performance has led him to perform and record with some of world''s best jazz and pop artist. Among this group stands out Charles Lloyd, Chico Hamilton, Eddie Gomez, Les McCann, Wayne Henderson, George Benson, James Gadson, Paul Horn, Putter Smith, Michael Simbelo, Jimmy Haskell, The Beach Boys, Wilson Pickett, The Association, Al Jarreou, Peter Cetera, Blondie Chaplin, and Evie Sands among other great artist.

Since December 1998 Carli opened Carli Café Concierto, a world class fine dining restaurant and jazz venue where he performs nightly solo or with a variety of artist, and on weekends with his trio. Carli has a popular piano solo release on Pelosenel Records called "Love Tales" and has currently released, on September 2003, his most recent recording "Both Sides Now" featuring bassist Eddie Gomez, guest players are drummer Joe Chambers and flautist Jeremy Steig.
