Details:
Three childhood friends out of St. Paul, MN create a fabulous blend of the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Weezer. Matt Zubrzycki - Singer/Guitarist started playing guitar at the age of thirteen. His brother had left behind an old acoustic guitar and a complete library of music that included, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Who, and Jimi Hendrix, just to name a few. With those pieces in place Matt completed the equation with a lot of spare time. He spent countless hours alone in his room perfecting his sound, his unique blend of all these artists.

Joe Warner - Bass, also started playing at the age of thirteen. Joe was brought up in a very musical family. One of his earliest memories is dancing and singing around his living room with his dad and sister to The Suburbs "Rattle My Bones". Joe always had music coming at him from all directions and finally he needed in. With influences ranging from Red Hot Chili Peppers to the Rolling Stones, he also gained knowledge from some of the best ax men around.

Joe Grieman - Drums, probably came out of the womb banging and hitting, but actually didn''t start playing until he was twelve. He too, was brought up in a musical family with his parents taking him to concerts or teaching him about Elvis, The Beatles and Michael Jackson. Once he began to play, he listened to the likes of Dave Grohl, Tre Cool, Patrick Wilson, and John Bonham. He turned out to be quite a well rounded drummer.

So how did Mutt start? That question can be traced all the way back to the fall of 1995. Grieman and Zubrzycki started jamming with each other, recording demos, and playing in a few bands that ended up playing one or two shows before self destructing as a lot of young garage bands do. One of these shows the opening act included Joe Warner. This band of his did not have a drummer and Grieman was asked to fill in for the night. That one night turned in to four years with the band Frank Nitty. Warner and Grieman learned a lot about being the glue of the rhythm section. They play quite a few shows over the years and really grew. During this time Zubrzycki and Grieman devoted a lot of time to writing and recording songs with a four track. Though the quality of the production might not have always been there, the writing was. Each song got better than the last and a large catalog was starting to take shape.

All three went their separate ways for college. In 2000, Grieman and Zubrzycki teamed up again in a local band Dank Skank. They played quite a few shows over six months but different ideas lead to a departure from the group. It was over about a month of songwriting and a couple of cases of beers that Mutt was born. Warner was quickly recruited and the nucleus of Mutt was set. For two months, the boys put in a lot of hard work and rehearsing finally Mutt took to the stage. They had a great couple of months to start with. They had a house gig for six months among other shows, which bought many new faces and quite a large following. All of this lead to the album "Living with the Moon". The record was recorded over about 6 month in the Twin Cities. There was a ton of hard work and a lot was learned. All and all the album was a success and sold very well over the next year. Mutt also hired a new guitarist Mitch Bullard who was another long time friend. He stayed with Mutt for about a year and the decided to leave for personal reasons. He was replaced by Kelly Weeks. Weeks was a former member of Frank Nitty with both Warner and Grieman. Mutt released a very limited run of their second album entitled "Stopped in Time" in the fall of 2003. After three years of playing the boys decided to take a rest and get reenergize with some of their side projects. They will be returning to the scene soon with a new album and great live performances. Check out their album "Living with the Moon" to find out what you have been missing out on.
