Welcome to phase 2!
Phase 1 was spent figuring out how to play drums with some of the best in the world, and now in Phase 2, I''m ready to bring you all into My head, My groove, My id.

Aubrey Dayle

The music of My id has elements that appeal to people from many cultures. My id incorporates the many musical concepts that have influenced drummer and composer Aubrey Dayle, who is also the projects creative force.

The music can be interpreted as a type of "world fusion" and is performed by some of the world''s best musicians. My id evokes the sounds of North Africa and beyond.

Although My id focuses on dynamic musical performances, it also offers a sense of social consciousness. Such topics as the difficulties posed by racial immaturity in western culture as well as the world''s struggle with HIV and AIDS are touched upon. The My id project is an amalgam of various global styles. The music is anchored to rhythmic constants found in drumming throughout the African Diaspora.

Several special guests are featured on the My id recording. Bass player Oteil Burbridge lent his virtuosity to the project while on hiatus from The Allman Brothers band. Vernon Reid, founder and guitarist for the legendary rock group, "Living Color", also agreed to play on the My id CD. He and Aubrey have been friends for several years, and recorded together on the Grammy nominated James ''Blood'' Ulmer CD, called Memphis ''Blood'' The Sun Sessions. My id also features Gnawan master vocalist Hassan Hakmoun. Aubrey has collaborated artistically with Hassan for over ten years.

Michael Cain who was the keyboardist for Jack Dejonette also appears on the album. Other notable musicians include jazz guitarists Ron Jackson and Jim Chapdelaine, Damon Banks, Mark Peterson, Nikki Parrott, Jamshied Sharifi, Jason Crosby and saxophonist Craig Rivers.

The future looks bright for My id. My id concerts are currently being booked for a series of collaborative performances with James ''Blood'' Ulmer. Other plans include a possible production with Vernon Reid. The nature of this production could bring the My id project to yet another level.

My id will mean a lot of things to a lot of people but in short, the music will soothe the heart, excite the mind and move the hips.
