MP3 Justice Naczycz - Water for the Withered Root

Dynamic and varied, with bits of raw rock, jazz, folk, and pop crashing into each other and yet seamlessly moving the album forward. Lyrically challenging and beautiful.

11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: with Live-band Production

Details:
". . .a tidal wave of emotion." "The results find Naczycz in amazing voice, muscular as always but controlled and with nuance as well, which allows a song such as the great Brother You''re Not Bound By This to carry itself in the sparest of atmospheric settings." -Bill Ellis, Commercial Appeal

I started recording this record four years ago with a totally different band in a totally different studio. As is the norm in the music business, things happened and I had to start over. It actually worked out for the best this time, because I got to hook up with Steve Selvidge (Big Ass Truck) who produced the album and did a fantastic job. At the time I was playing solo acoustic shows around Memphis, and had built up a huge catalog of songs. Steve and I waded through it all and we picked twelve songs (eleven of which made it to the record)and booked the studio time. We hired our friends John Stubblefield (Lucero) and Ross Rice (Human Radio) to come in and play on the record along with me and Steve. All of these players had been musicians I had looked up to since arriving in Memphis ten years ago. It has been a dream project that exceded all my expectations. Now about to start touring as Justice Naczycz and His Visible Band with Mark Stuart and John Argroves (former rhythm section for Alvin "Youngblood" Hart) Steve and I look forward to a bright future.

". . . the album -- which runs the gamut from blues rock to moody jazz and quirky pop -- could be the local sleeper hit of the year" -Andria Lisle, Memphis Flyer
". . . singer-songwriter Justice Naczycz has crafted a great-sounding debut with Water for the Withered Root . . . giving nearly every song a strong, distinct sonic bed rife with instrumental highlights" -Chris Herrington, Memphis Flyer

"former Big Ass Truck guitarist Selvidge (who also handles himself admirably on keyboards and bass here) has established himself as the rock guitarist in town. Judging from this album, he may also become the young producer to beat." -Bill Ellis, Commercial Appeal

"I''m just trying to mine an area of quirky rock and pop that isn''t getting touched very much. And trying to do it with some lyrics that are meaningful and interesting." -Justice Naczycz
