7 MP3 Songs
POP: Folky Pop, FOLK: like Joni

Details:
Singer, songwriter, and guitar swinging front woman of the trio billed under her name, Marlee Napurano brings a new sound to three old genres: pop, rock, and folk.

With a mixture of smooth, intimate ballads and driving rock licks, she washes her experiences over her audience.

Marlee''s perceptive lyrics and her vocal style somewhere between Ani Defranco and Ella Fitzgerald have landed her in great rooms in Manhattan including the Elbow Room, the Bitter End, and Henrietta Hudson''s, as well as national festivals like the Digital Club Festival, NY and Southern Decadence, New Orleans-- even at the White House for the 75th birthday of the Women''s Bureau.

In their 30th Anniversary Issue, Interview Magazine cited Marlee as one of New York''s notable new faces in the wake of the release of her self-produced record, "starting."

Besides making waves on the internet winning her the "Artist of the Week" slot on the former https://www.tradebit.com and scoring her a spot on London''s https://www.tradebit.com, "starting" caught the attention of Oxygen Media which licensed the record for TV.

Her latest demo was produced by former "Spindoctors" guitarist Anthony Krizan and gave her the opportunity to hear pop pros like Krizan and keyboardist John Ginty (Jewel, the Bangles) play her music.

From the age of 5 Marlee was singing at community festivals, malls and nursing homes around her hometown at the Jersey Shore.

While earning a bachelors in English at Yale University, Marlee worked on her ear and her arranging with 4 years of a cappella singing.

"When I was 7, my parents gave me two things with strings: a tennis racket and a guitar"; the guitar soon became her best friend.

By high school, Marlee was playing with a few bands, covering everything from Rush to Carly Simon.

After Yale, she put together a female acoustic-duo with a rugby teammate (that''s another story) and hit the local jam sessions.

At a Stanhope House jam in 1998, the house band approached Marlee about being her band on her original project; and the trio of Marlee, drummer Casey O''Connor, and bassist Steve Johnson was born.

Marlee is self-managed and promoted and is also the founder of NY''s Orange Paw Publishing.

Marlee Napurano plays a Taylor 812 guitar live since she has retired her tennis racket.
