Details:
Although playing out officially since 2002, three of the band members, Chad Dahlstrom on guitar/vocals, Adam Quinn, the bassist, and drummer/percusionist, Ian Lamphere, grew up together in Vermont, where eventually they found their soon to be singer, Andrew Lafrenz. Though not around for the recording of "Gone," the band was joined by Liquid Dead keyboardist/vocalist Brian Laurie (like Lafrenz, from Syracuse), and Morgan Lamphere (previously of Wood''s Tea Company) on Drumset, and vocals. The band has chiseled its own niche in the North East music scene with "Gone" which earned NBS a place in the March/April 2004 edition of Relix Magazine as a band "on the verge." Having sold over four thousand copies of Gone and being added to over ninety FM radio stations nationwide, The band has just finished the recording of their second self titled album set to be released in February 2005. Named By Strangers was recently featured in Skiing Magazine''s October 2004 issue as a must see après ski band.

NBS has begun to spread its electric live shows primarily in the Northeast, playing regular shows in Vermont, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

The band has shared the stage with such acts as Deep Fried (members of Government Mule, the Meters, and the Neville Brothers), Max Creek, Railroad Earth, Ulu, Raq, Jen Durkin and the Bomb Squad, Spookie Daly Pride, and Glock and Patchen of Strangefolk. Additionally, Named By Strangers had the opportunity to open for Colonel Bruce Hampton and the Codetalkers with special guests Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers) and Susan Tedeschi this past summer at Tobacco Road in NYC.
