Natasha Kinne is a British/Indian singer & songwriter who''s writing journey started at seven years old when her family moved from England to Montreal. Natasha was in a few local rock bands including "Talk Shop", "Dirk Feels Funny" and "Leggo Fish Mode" during her teens and then she attended Fanshawe Colleges Music Industry Arts Program in London Ontario where she studied production and sound engineering.
From there she spent almost a decade in Los Angeles where she managed a state-of-the-art recording facility, Entourage Studios in North Hollywood and sang jingles and film themes for companies such as AdMusic Inc., Hal Leonard Publishing and Warner Brothers. She recorded much of her original music at Entourage, Indigo Ranch, & Diamond In The Rough Studios with producer Michael Scott. She also wrote songs with some amazing artists such as Amye Williams, Robin Hild and Michael DiFelice. Natasha still has a great passion for California sunshine and the creative energy on the west coast.
Now in Toronto Natasha has hooked up with Craig Riddock of the soulful, New Orleans edged band Reuben Cherry and together they produced her new c.d. "Contact High". The c.d. consists of a diverse style of songwriting and vocal expression, some folk, some rock''n''roll, some blues, with eastern flavors and she plays acoustic guitar and flute on many of the songs and weaves warm vocal harmonies together to create a sweet landing strip for some serious subject matter. Her lyrics are philosophically based and directed towards shining a light on the human condition, the love, the chaos, the inner and outer battles of mankind, as intimate as searching for love on a higher plane of consciousness and as outspoken as questioning organized religion, politics, mainstream views, and then there''s lighter songs like "More" that introduces an intense theme of sexual desire graced with a flowing melody and an ethereal rock production reminiscent of Pink Floyd. Some of her main influences and musical loves include 60''s & 70''s rockers and others like Heart, The Pretenders, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Tori Amos & Sheryl Crow.
Natasha is also cutting tracks with Canadian legend Jack Richardson, producer of bands such as The Guess Who & Alice Cooper. The two of them got together to plan some sessions when Natasha received a Factor grant last year and there was great camaraderie between them. The sessions ended up being a success, loads of fun and truly enlightening and the two of them will continue the project later on in the year.
Last November Alliance Atlantis licensed two of Natasha''s songs for CTV''s "The Eleventh Hour" (a Canadian award winning television production) and she hopes to do more writing for the shows third season along with a little acting here and there on that production and others.
Natasha is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association and will be taking part in "Tin Pan North" at the end of May at Hugh''s Room in Toronto along with showcasing her band and the new c.d. at venues like Renaissance, C''est What, Stone''s Place & Clinton''s in the coming months.
