MP3 Greg Naughton - Demogogue & the Sun Songs

"A rough-and-tumble folk-rock gem." (Perf. Songwriter Mag.) "A soul-infused pop-rock mix with dynamic vocals a la Jeff Buckley and the simple phrasing of James Taylor" (The National Post)

11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, POP: Folky Pop

Details:
It was none other than legendary singer Phoebe Snow who discovered Mr. Naughton in NYC where he and backing band, The Stark Naked Sole play regularly at clubs like the famous CBGB''s, The Bitter End, and more recently, Joe''s Pub. Ms. Snow took Naughton under wing and co-produced his first 3-song demo which gave rise to this debut CD "Demogogue & the Sun Songs."

As the March/April 2002 issue of Performing Songwriter Magazine details:

"Greg Naughton''s collection of homemade demos (hence Demogogue) and studio recordings and mixes is a rough-and-tumble folk-rock gem. The songs have an engaging, broken-down quality that, when combined with Naughton''s smooth but world-weary tenor, create a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Recorded on home equipment as well as at various studios, Naughton has pieced together one hell of a record. From the herky-jerky "Plastic Vagabond" to the soulful closer "The Sun Went Out," Demogogue & the Sun Songs is a constantly surprising romp through the great traditions of modern rock and roll. Whether he''s turning a Live-reminiscent ballad into a full-out rock free-for-all on "Damascus," or touching on the melancholy of "Remember Bein'' Up," Naughton is a magnetic writer and performer."
