ZINGALE – ''THE BRIGHT SIDE''

In the 70''s the band Zingale brought out an album called ''Peace'', which is considered to be, even today, as the "masterpiece" of Prog music from the Middle East. The band continued to perform live until 1980. The members of the band each went their separate way, some continued in music, and some continued their search in other way on the planet.

Ephraim Barak, the lead guitarist and singer of Zingale, continued creating music, and playing with other bands. For 11 years owned a recording studio, worked with many musicians while living in Northern Israel. Udi Tamir, the band''s bass player and singer, turned to the study of spiritual Wisdom. After five years, he began to create music again, and had a successful live radio show that was broadcast on four Israeli radio stations for ten years. Udi also acted in ten movies during this time.

In the magical and beautiful hills of the Galilee surrounding Safed, the city of Kabbalah, Ephraim and Udi met again after almost 30 years. They started playing together again and it was as if their musical connection was never severed. "In the beautiful and tranquil, ancient cobblestone alleyways of Safed, we felt a mystical spirit flowing through us, a bright presence. The level of our creativity was ascending to new heights. Some parts of our new music felt as if it was flying to the Infinite. That''s why we call our genre, Progressus in Infinitum (prog in infinity). Maybe it''s a new genre, but without a doubt, it felt new to us. While we were busy with our music, and our new album was almost complete, an air raid siren sounded. The Galilee was being pounded by Katyusha rockets, and in the blink of an eye, the situation turned 180 degrees around, and we were in the midst of a war. The streets were empty as everyone hid in bomb shelters. The music that we continued to create and record became apocalyptic - the ''dark side'' appeared. After about a month, the situation returned to normal and we returned to ''The Bright Side''."

After more than a year of work, in five recording studios around Israel, Zingale''s new album, ''The Bright Side'' was cut. Ephraim Barak wrote music and arrangements, played guitars, bass, keyboards, and sang vocals. Udi Tamir wrote lyrics and music and played guitars, bass, keyboards and sang vocals. Barak Ben Zur played drums and percussion.

''The Bright Side'' is first of all a response to one of the original members of the band, David Hofesh, who died in the 1990''s. David allowed himself to search in places that he shouldn''t have. Although many years have passed since then, it was very important for Ephraim and Udi to respond to David in the song ''The Bright Side'' - "we''re gonna meet you on the bright side of the moon". This is also a reaction to Pink Floyd who sang "we''ll meet you on the dark side of the moon".

''The Basic Commandments'' is a song that deals with Laws that were given to the whole Human race, and especially the most important principle – not to kill. The song ''War'' says that wars are always wars no matter who started them. Also tears are tears no matter what eyes they fall from. Certainly there must be a good solution to mankind''s problems, and it is possible that somebody on planet Earth holds the key to another world that exists here, but it is difficult for us to see it. ''Sooner or Later'' speaks of a strong belief that all of this is gonna happen sooner or later.

The great energy that existed in the 70''s, which might have dissipated in the 80''s and on, returns in the creation of ''The Bright Side'', with the combination of powerful and colorful music that has the taste of the 70''s. With this new album, Zingale wants to meet all prog rock lovers always on ''The Bright Side''.
