Details:
After a five-year recording and performing hiatus, singer-songwriter Matt Cheplic is back with the six-song EP “Who Burned The Book of Love?”

In 2002 and 2003, tracks for Cheplic’s debut album “Don’t Let Me Lose My Mind” earned airplay at adult alternative stations in dozens of markets around the country.

Matt’s video for the track “Deliver Me” was featured in the MTV special “Under The Radar: Flying Indie,” which was hosted by famous DJ/font of music knowledge Matt Pinfield. Soon, “Deliver Me” was appearing on Pinfield’s now-defunct MTV alternative series “120 Minutes.”

“Who Burned The Book of Love?” is loaded with the traits that won over music listeners and industry professionals the first time around: infectious melodies, classic, understated production, and Cheplic’s warm baritone voice telling stories for people a little too mature for teen pop.

This recording is also a charitable effort. Cheplic is donating more than half of the proceeds to Palisades Emergency Residence Corporation (PERC), a shelter in Union City, NJ, close to where the artist grew up.

“In the years since the first record, I took a lot of time away from constant performance, just to work with other people and undertake writing projects besides songs,” explains Cheplic. “In that time, I also decided that I didn’t want to just make recordings; I wanted to make recordings I could then use to undertake some social responsibility. I believe in the work PERC does for the people in that community, so it just seemed like a natural fit.”

During his time away from music, Cheplic also wrote, performed, and made short films with the New York sketch comedy troupe Big Flux, which featured Kevin Allison of “The State,” the famous 1990s troupe whose alumni include members of “Reno: 911” and several other TV and film projects.
