Nervewreck is what happens when all the problems, all the questions, about our human relationships, that constantly plague our minds, are expressed in the form of music.
Punk-ish...but not punk. Contemporary...but not slavishly trendy.
Hip, new, indie-rock band, Nervewreck, was formed in Houston in 2004 by a group of seasoned young musicians who, first, fine-tuned their craft as members of a variety of other "space city" rock bands,
such as December''s Child, Seres Occultus, Chlorine, Lovestar and Cure tribute band "The Cured".
Brandon''s "shadows and lights" imagery, in words and melodies from the heart, are vivid snapshots of life''s emotional ups and downs that we can all relate to. What seem, at first glance, to be fairly simple, familiar lyric constructions, on further examination are found to contain intriguing layers of thought and emotion, and refreshingly new paths of expression. His frenetic energy on stage expresses these visions in motion.
Anthony''s blazing, bombastic guitar, Andy''s powerhouse drumming, and Eric''s melodic punk/rock guitar crunch provide the pounding, yet subtle, dynamic foundation that gives Nervewreck it''s breathless, non-stop, "grab-the-edge-of-your-seat" pulse. With their own, electric, energizing style, and their powerhouse, charismatic stage presence, Nervewreck thrills, uplifts, thoroughly entertains, and takes indie-rock music another step forward in creativity and showmanship.
The meeting of
these talented and experienced individuals, and their metamorphosis into a totally new and unique band, has produced
a powerful and
incredibly energetic "pop/punk/rock ''n roll" kaleidoscope of
riffs and rhythms.
Original songs such as "Discussion Further" give vocal expression to some of the bewilderment and frustration felt by many of us looking at world events today:
"....discussion further would lead me to wonder what is there left to do."
"The Road" is the most familiar of emotions, the refusal of the heart to believe that a relationship is really over, set into the prism of contemporary word and sound usage:
"....hey, lady, do you know a girl who looks like you?".
