Struggling to overcome anemia, insomnia, and loss, Media Blackout expresses their downward views and frustration towards their hometown. Filled with hypocritical and ignorant people, their local music scene seems to have developed a downward view on them like a popular trend. Media Blackout stands against the crowd. The friction between their anger driven choruses, but still melodic segments seems to have created a unique sound of its own. With this, their songs continue to invite anyone along to relate and better understand where they came from.
Starting in the year 2004 initially as Minerva, over time Media Blackout has created a strong foundation of influences such as Nirvana, The Used, A Perfect Circle, and many others. With Brandon Verrett on guitar and vocals, and Joey Domeier on bass, they included a good friend on drums, Eddy Mendeville. In November of the same year, their drummer parted ways, leaving Brandon and Joey on their own. Nearly two months later Joey had gone to a local show and found another drummer willing to do the part. Adding Kyle Trantum on drums, Media Blackout continued their progress together, starting in their hometown Brentwood. With the exception of creating their main fan base in Concord, Media Blackout has played venues such as The Pound SF, 330 Rich (San Francisco), Bourbon Street Bar and Grill (Concord), The Chronicle Pavilion (Concord), The Epidemic (Brentwood), Club Retro (Orangeville), The Oakland Metro, Blakes on Telegraph (Berkeley), along with many others.
