Details:
Enter the world of heartfelt emotion as you experience the compositions of singer/songwriter Mike Nichols. A native Kentuckian, this now, Alabama resident, has scripted individual gems of a range of feelings. From the hilarious, "Justin Why Did You Have To Bone Me" through the wicked, "The Phone Call," to the tearful, "Why''d I Have To Wait So Long," you will get insight to the depth of feeling and versatility of this songwriter.

Mike has been "writing" songs since back in elementary school, when he made up a song about his brother. It was a spoken ballad on the lines of "Big John," called "Pat The Brat."

He began playing the guitar the summer between high school and college, and he wrote quite a few songs during his college years, mostly for family members. When his brother, Marty, got married Mike couldn''t make the wedding, so he wrote a wedding song for him and his bride, recorded it on a tape and sent it to them.

In the Navy, while he was punching holes in the ocean, on submarines, Mike would entertain the crew by writing new lyrics about crew members to already known tunes. The captain of Mike''s last submarine even made a comment in his Navy evaluation that Mike was a talented singer and songwriter.

Once out of the navy, music took a back seat to forging a career in the nuclear power industry. It took an extreme amount of time and study. During periods of time when Mike''s career took him on the road, his guitar became his personal friend that kept him company. He became a parrot head and learned as many Buffett songs as he could. Up until then he had played songs of artists such as John Denver, Jim Croce, and Dan Fogelberg.

Mike began writing in earnest again in the fall of 2000, and after finding a studio that would record his music, one song led to another. The end result is Mike''s first CD, "On My Sleeve." Most of the songs on it were written between Fall of 2000 and Spring of 2002.

In June of 2001, "the worst year of my life," Mike says, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. He underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments and up til now, has beaten it. Mike is proud of this first CD, but is more proud of how he handled his potential demise and his recovery from it.
