Details:
Jill began playing guitar and singing when she was 12 years old and got her first nylon string guitar. After playing and singing for years, she finally started writing her own original tunes in the spring of 2003. Now she has recorded her first collection of songs, "Lucky Girl", an eclectic mix of rocking roots and folk-rock ballads, inspired by her life, her loves, and her politics. Her clear and emotive vocal sound has already been compared to Natalie Merchant, Carly Simon, and Shawn Colvin.

A talented group of musicians contributed to "Lucky Girl", including electric guitarist Stef Burns of Huey Lewis and the News, drummer Kevin Hayes of the Robert Cray Band, keyboard player Dave Mathews of Etta James and the Roots Band, background singer Tony Lindsay of Santana, and bass player Curtis Ohlson, who is currently touring with Booker T and also produced the album.

Jill grew up in the Bay Area in a family where music was ever present. She played and sang in a pop/rock band with her husband, Don Arbor, for 10 years, until the band broke up in 2000. When Don began recording his own original songs, Jill sang many of the background and harmony vocals. The title track from his latest CD, "Salam Pax"--an anti-war anthem which featured Jill’s background vocals--was recently made into a music video. The video has been featured at the 2008 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, and it was an Official Selection of the 2008 Berkeley Video and Film Festival.

Besides playing music, Jill is a licensed psychologist and has worked as a therapist, college counselor/administrator, and a teacher. Currently she spends her time writing, and is the book review editor for Greater Good Magazine, a publication of the University of California, Berkeley, where she also contributes feature articles and essays. She lives with Don, her two boys––Michael and David––and her dog Casey "high on a hill" in Berkeley, California, where she (thankfully) doesn''t have to "pop a pill" to be happy.
