Joe Carvalho has performed live with a wide variety of musicians and songwriters over the past 35 years. Joe is known for his improvisational style and ability to incorporate a wide range of music stylings into his work. Listeners will quickly note the folk, country, classical, Spanish, blues, rock, and jazz influences in his work. He has also worked as a studio musician, and has helped a number of songwriters with their musical arrangements. Gentle Tunes for Trying Times is a compilation of his acoustic guitar composition which capture a softer side of his repertoire. This represents a dramatic departure from his other work such as End Times: Countdown to 2012 soon to be released. Joe is probably best known for his work in the 90s with the band Monterey Jack (albums: Monterey Jack: The Basement Years; You Don’t Know Jack!; and The Best of Monterey Jack). Recently, Joe has been known for his work as guitarist and musical arranger for singer/songwriter Eva Cappelli. All instruments on the Gentle Tunes CD are played by Carvalho: Acoustic 6 and 12 string Guitars, bass, mandolin, slide guitar, harmonica, pipa, percussion instruments.
