Details:
Bob Nordquist is a singer/songwriter from St. Paul MN. with a strong regional connection and a global vision. With over 100 original songs to choose from, his live performances are always fresh and varied. Although he has played extensively in traditional folk venues, his musical style is as varied as the settings for the many different stories in his songs.

Whether performing solo with just his guitar and harmonicas (and maybe an occasional banjo, ukulele or tenor guitar) or with the accompaniment of other accomplished musicians on mandolin, bass, percussion or other instruments, Bob''s shows are truly energetic and unique.

Bob Nordquist''s songs are graphic stories of ordinary people struggling through the situations we all have dealt with or with situations we hope never to deal with. His songs can be sad or humorous, but always with a strong sympathy for the human condition. His songs reflect a deep passion for the environment and social causes without being preachy or bookish. Many of his songs are musical voyages through history, or wherever there is an interesting story to tell. Bob''s songs are as much influenced by his literary favorites, Charles Dickens, John Steinbeck, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, as they are by his musical heroes, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Bruce Cockburn....

Bob was a finalist in the 2000 MN Folk Festival Songwriting contest, performing at the event and was a guest on KFAI''s "Urban Folk" radio show (10/1/2000), playing four songs live. He was named Pulse of the Twin Cites - Artist of the Week for the week of 5/31/00 and appeared in March 1999 as part of the Pulse Magazine Acoustic Music Showcase at the Ginkgo Coffeehouse and the Pulse TV show in support of this event. In June 2000, he released his debut CD, "Digging in the Live Red Coals." On this CD he was joined by some of the areas most notable musicians, such as: Leo Whitebird on Bass, Dobro, Keyboards; Sena Thompson (of the Urban Hillbilly Quartet) on violin, Aaron Kerr on cello; David Hanners on Mandolin and Brian Russ and drums and percussion. Bob is about to enter the studio again to work on his second release.
