BIOGRAPHY

Life of an early age boy growing up in the 80’s was somewhat cool, says ZEEK. A person could walk the streets without a lot of hassle and although violence was around it would pass by quickly as a morning day turning into night. A child would be more happy just having a little something in those times considering a less demanding economy. In those times, it gave reason for a person to believe and think about his or her future. At the same time, it gave a person a reason to vision life as being an art of beauty.

Isaac Ali (Known as) ZEEK, was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. He’s the second oldest child of three children whom his mother raised as a single parent. As a young child ZEEK would witness his mother abusive and mentally stressed relationships with different men’s. In additional, he would build self-hatred toward his mother just by seeing her care for men’s more, rather, than paying attention to her own children. ZEEK would be angered by his mother’s actions however he still loved her unconditionally. Looking back at being a youngster, he definitely now understand the reason of his mother actions, says ZEEK. .

At the age of 13, ZEEK turned to his older brother from one of his father’s previous relationships for guidance. His innocence would soon be washed away as he was introduced to the fast life of the streets. Slowly he would begin to drink alcohol, smoke marijuana, and sell drugs with his older brother. For a moment, life was fast but good to him. However, like every man’s rise to power comes a road block. It’s the early 90’s and though times have changed since the 80’s his near misses of being another black male victim of the streets would change his direction of life. In efforts to turn his life around, ZEEK would divert his energy to music becoming a song writer. He would write 3 to 4 songs a day just developing his writings skills. In 1992, at the age of 16, he recorded his first song with his brother at Chicago Recording Company (CRC) in Chicago. Although young, ZEEK was feeling happy about his recent change and focus in life as he sighted his career on being a hip hop music entertainer. However, his recording journey would end very quickly as he learned working with family members was not in the best interest of business explains, ZEEK. From bribery to extortion, ZEEK have faced many obstacles along his path of becoming a hip hop artist, and as he still looks ahead, it’s more to come says, ZEEK.

In 1995, ZEEK would enroll and attend a City Junior College in Chicago. He attended classes for two semesters before dropping out to hang back in the streets. After years of another attempt in the fast life, seeing so many changes in the streets and people turning on each other, ZEEK finally enrolled back in school, this time transferring to a Business College where he would spend his next 3 years earning him a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Meanwhile, after graduating in 2002 from college and working off and on, the ambition of becoming a hip hop entertainer never disappeared from his sight. ZEEK continued to work hard through the support of his long time girl friend and five children.

In the field of music, ZEEK have been influenced by all genres of music. “Real artist’s listen to all kinds of music to enrich their growth and potential as an artist and entertainer”, says ZEEK. In 2003, he released his first single entitled “Like That”, which sold over 1,000 copies in the streets of Chicago. After a year of promoting his single, the song failed to get the much needed buzz to turn it to a hit song. So that same year, ZEEK decided to rethink his approach and style of music to get a buzz around the city. Two years later, in 2005, ZEEK dropped his second single entitled “UuWoopsiWoo”, featuring his long time friends Yah’key of R.P.G Entertainment and K-Dub. But, like the first single, the second single would fail as well, only selling more than 1000 copies in the streets of Chicago. However, he did not stop there, explains ZEEK, looking at his failures would make him work even harder as he went on. He knew quitting was not in him. So shortly after being frustrated and having no luck in the streets of Chicago with his music, ZEEK released 6 Mixtapes, recording over 75 songs in a two year span from 2005 to the summer of 2007. Traveling from Chicago to St. Louis, Tennessee, Atlanta, Wisconsin, and Minnesota passing out and selling mixtape cd’s from the trunk of his car, ZEEK have been determined to get recognition for the work of his music. Later that year of 2007, he would record his third single entitled “What It Is” which sold more than 2000 copies in the streets of Chicago. Although more units were sold, ZEEK would still not accomplish that recognition he awaits.

After more than 15 years of let downs and failures, ZEEK have vowed to get recognition from the streets one way or another for the work of his music. With the launch of his independent record label, Top Priority Source Records, ZEEK looks forward to dropping his first big major album project entitled “Ask About Me” independently by the fall of 2008. In ZEEK’S album, he explains, he’s fulfilling his personality as an all around artist with bangers for the clubs recording hot joints such as “Peep”, “Do U” and “Turn Em Out”. Needless to say, when it comes to the streets, ZEEK shows his effectiveness with heat bangers such as “Ask About Me”, “Let’s Go”, and “It’s All Good”. ZEEK’S overall perception of his album is having a mixture of musical styles to appeal to any and everyone. In fact, ZEEK is more determined than ever to show his home town Chicago why not recognizing him in previous years has made him a better person of music. In addition, ZEEK tends to hush all his critics and non believers for doubting his belief, dream and potential of becoming something more than just words regardless of a person age.
