Details:
O.B.L. is the collective of Drifta, Justus and Stoutamire. Drifta is one of the dopest lyricists in the area, with an ear for a different sound, not content to emulate recent hits like some acts unfortunately do. Justus is a profound lyricist and songwriter. Stoutamire is one of the illest lyricists in CT, his rhyme skill only matched by his beatmaking prowess. O.B.L. came together for one reason: to make hot music and not sound like any of the latest flavors of the month. Their goal is to make timeless hip hop classics. Studio "gangstas", your nightmare has come to life: O.B.L. is here now. Neck brace sales are sure to rise because heads coast to coast will be nodding to this!

The meaning behind the title Dirt, Gravel & Grime is self-explanatory. The trio take you on a musical ride through the dirt and the grime of their struggles. Stout''s eerie baritone provides the gravel. O.B.L. are adept at meshing with any style, given their background and diverse tastes. Despite living in the Northeast, there is also a distinct Southern flavor to their flow as witnessed in the songs "Feelin'' Me" and "Do Whatcha Do". They touch upon relationship problems in the heartfelt "Understand", and address the constant harassment in the hood on "Profile". Kathy "Chula" Rosado lends her vocals on "Feelin'' Me". Rasheem Dixon adds his soulful voice to "Understand". Throughout the rest of the album, you can hear the smooth vocals of B. Byrd on "Profile", and the smoking - hot first single "Club On Smash". H-Bomb appears on the DJ Stress - produced banger "Eyes Wide Shut", and 40 Barz adds an energetic verse on "We Talkin'' Ta You". Stoutamire''s eardrum (and speaker) splitting production shines throughout this debut album.
Unlike a lot of groups these days, there are no solo songs on this debut album, and it is not chock full of big name guest appearances. O.B.L. prefers to let the music speak for itself. Definitely one to keep in your disc changer.
