The powerful World Music of ONIRO is inspired by traditional tribal rhythm and multiple musical knowledge from around the world. Exotic instruments like the Didgeridoo, the Benta and the Dulcimer bring the listener to a place where symbols, feelings and images blend together to form a deep and profound foundation of self creation and imagination.

The use of primitive instruments in the music of Oniro is a primordial element of the sound. The Australian Didgeridoo played by Jean-François make you feel the depth of the groove, The Benta, a monochord instrument used in Jamaican "Deadyard" which was inspired from African traditional ceremonies create transe like rhythm. Other instruments are often used like the Djembe, the Balafon, the Indian Tabla and the Tibetin Bowls.

ONIRO was created by Jean-François Linteau in 1995 when he was touring world wide as sound mixer with the Cirque du Soleil tour Alegria. He traveled and lived in Australia with Aboriginal tribes to learn with natives peoples some knowledges of the Physical, Human and Sacred World around us. He also learnt circular breathing, permitting him to play the Didgeridoo (Circular breathing enables musicians to keep a constant airflow going through their instruments allowing them to play notes for a seemingly endless amount of time.).

Mario Voriass, Benta player,
Christopher Anderson, Jamaican Benta stick player.
Gilbert Joanis Jazz bass player on the 45min song Samsara,
Réjean Julien, Lap Steel guitar player and
Christian Paré, percussionist with African, Indian and Cuban influences.

"Initium", is the 1st Cd of Oniro representing 7 different steps of a white men entering the mystical and spiritual world of the outback , was printed in a limited edition of 1000 cd.
The third song "Dagda" was selected, "Top picks of up and coming online art" by https://www.tradebit.com musicologists in the « Eclectic World/Folk » categories in 1999.

"Dagda" was one of the ten songs in World/Folk categories on the year 2000 compilation "Best 100 worldwide songs CD" from https://www.tradebit.com , 500 000 cds distributed worldwide.

In 1998 Oniro produced Prismatik, a video with Circus Artists.

Oniro record "Lucid dreaming" in 1998, released for online listening and used in the sound track of the documentary film "Modern Tribalism" directed by Mimi George & Rick Kent, LA California.

"Modern Tribalism" has been part of the famous Earthdance Film Festival, the Atlanta Film and Video Festival , Hawaii international Film Festival and lots of location across the United-States of America.

Oniro made the original music for the film "Great Exploration" produced and directed by Scott Sackett of Whristling Moon Production ,Glendale, California

Shows has been played in Québec, Canada and Germany. Musé Juste Pour Rire Montréal, Grand café Montréal, L''autre Caserne Québec, Stuttgart Germany, Bernhausen Germany.
