ONOFFON is finally back with their third release, "Bridge to Presage". Now for something completely different should be the theme of this diverse and profound group of musicians. The core of ONOFFON is still built on the trio of Don Lake-guitars, Von Babasin-bass, and Dave Goode-drums, but the trio becomes a quintet on this latest release, adding the world class virtuosity of saxman, Glen Garrett, and pianist, Marcus Duke, as permanent members. Amazing production has become a trademark of ONOFFON and "Bridge to Presage" does not fail to deliver the superior sound quality that has won them IOMA''s 2005 "Artist of the Year" on the merits of their previous CD, "Your Mind".
This CD is another hard right turn, also an ONOFFON trademark, and this time around is all instrumental. Displaying a totally unique sound, this collection of compositions can only be called "Symphonic Jazz". From the opening track, "Ottone Prelude: ''Remembrance''", until the conclusion of "Finale", each piece tells a musical story that must be heard in its entirety.
ONOFFON is a perfect example of why the independent music scene is the only place where musical creativity and innovation is allowed to take place. Everyone should own a copy of this CD and, indeed, the entire ONOFFON discography.
