MP3 Ophelia's Kiss - Not A Viable Commercial Product

Rock N'' Roll for the modern existentialst. Marries raw, haunting and sometimes sardonic lyrics to Beatles-esque hooks.

6 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Progressive Rock, POP: Beatles-pop

Details:
Ophelia''s Kiss was forged from the fevered imagination of singer/songwriter Shawn "Eegah" David. Who, as a boy, Honed his skills in the rock and roll hotbed kown as Spokane Washington, as leader of the pop-rock bands ''Embryo'' and ''Bethany''s Sin''.

Shawn would team with his brother Troy to record the rare and smashingly delightful acoustic CD, "Grace". Praised by local critics, the duo built quite a following among the coffee house crowd and seedy bar patrons.

But alas, in a move that in no way resembled the bitter break up of the less obscure duo, the Everly Brothers; the two went their seperate ways.

Troy retired to a life of wine, women and song while Shawn and his angst moved to Nashville! Once there, Shawn; or ''Mr. Sardonicus" as he is playfully known to complete strangers, created the four man trio ''Ophelia''s Kiss''!

So who or what is Ophelia''s Kiss? They are award winning producer and drummer Jerrod Cring! Bombastic Bass man Russ Cring! Guitar Czar Terry "Goose Down" Downing! And of course, the gruff but lovable Uncle Shawn, who provided Guitar, Harmonica, Vocals and Lemon Donuts!

With hooks to rival those put forth by the Beatles or Weezer; and the honest, raw lyrics like those sung by Nirvana. Ophelia''s Kiss presents their debute CD "Not A Viable Commercial Product" to an eager nation!

Tracks:
1) MONSTER
Big powerfull arena rock. I wanted a dramatic sound and kept picturing those old Frankenstein, Cat People flicks in my head as I wrote it. It''s about being critisized for not being a saint.

2) KARI
Just a fun, catchy pop song about actress Kari Wuhrer. Heavy on the acoutics and harmonica, Jerrod thought this sounded like REM meets the Beatles.

3) ALLISON''S DANCE
Gentle folk tune inspired by the book ''Second Coming'' by Walker Percy. It''s about these 2 broken people who don''t fit anywhere but with each other. I wanted the melody to be a soft, lullaby mantra.

4) GRAVITY
People say it''s David Bowie-esque. Spacy, dreamlike, explodes at the chorus.

5) OPHELIA
Ahhh, a very personal song. I like the dichotomy of this song: Serious lyric set to bouncy Beatles-like music. The slightly off harmonies to reflect her slighty off mental state.

6) HAPPY
It''s bone-saw rock (my own term, sez Shawn)
about all the jerks in the world and how I only find peace in my music. A straight forward punch in the gut with a little side step to a Gm chord. Great guitar solo by Terry!

PHILOSOPHIC MUSINGS:
What you get with with Ophelia''s Kiss is honesty. This group won''t play with the ''In Crowd''. They are not part of the pre-fabricated music machine. They will not be retooled to fit in with the ''Fad of the Day''.

It''s Rock with an infectious hook, lyrics that are real with a dash of sarcastic humor. It''s energetic musicianship (Russ and Terry really knocked themselves out on this CD) which champions the fierce individualist who say "Not me Baby!" So rock on daddy-O and dig it!
