"Take five scientists from differing backgrounds; put them together on a research project and syphon the results down to one comprehensive thesis and what you are left with is either the ruin of mankind or the premier EP release from Vancouver’s aptly named Last Plague. Unlike the research project however, the five musical scientists that make up Last Plague are gonna knock you on your ass and let you live to tell about it.
The shear complexity of this EP makes describing it almost impossible. If post-post-post-post hardcore includes a bit of Black Sabbath, a smidgen of Deftones, some Fugazi, Clutch, Valient Thorr, Pelican and Intronaut all mixed together into something indescribably unique, then Last Plague fucking nail it!
“Piston Cider” and “God Damned Good” are the standout tracks here, but there is absolutely no slack on this EP at all. Solid musicianship and resonant vocals make this “research and destroy” project something utterly unique and give Last Plague (as Ninjaspy and Man Made Mountains before them), an assured place in Vancouver’s divergent music scene."

"Last Plague is a five piece Vancouver band that is bringing something new to the plate. There are lots of meat and potatoes, but there is also something strange lying there. Luckily for everyone involved it turns out to taste pretty damn good. Calling Last Plague a metal band wouldn’t quite cover what they are doing, and calling them simply a rock band wouldn’t do them justice either. Hardcore wouldn’t be a word I would mind using. Alternacore? Eww. The last thing this world needs is a new genre. However what the world does need is more bands like Last Plague. Original to a T, this band knows how to peel back the layers for breakdowns that are strangely complex. Their singer brings some guttural screams with true angst and a good range, while the guitarists bring some tasty licks to each song."
