Elroy “Sandy” Sandquist is pleased to present his debut CD entitled “Redemption”. Sandy was an active musician when he was growing up. During his teen years and into his twenties Sandy composed much secular music and performed in clubs in Chicago where he was raised. After a long hiatus from music as he built his law practice and watched his family grow (Sandy and his wife Colleen have two daughters, Kylen and Kara, who sing background vocals on the first track of the CD) Sandy returned to music by joining the Music Ministry at his Church, Holy Family in Inverness, Illinois. In 2005 the Church embarked on a fundraising campaign to build a center for “Children, Youth and Families” and Sandy was a member of the fundraising committee and wrote a song named after the Campaign “A Home For Our Family”. Sandy then started writing more songs and finally decided to do a CD. “Redemption” is comprised of four original songs including “A Home For Our Family”, “One Set Of Footprints”, “Cool Breeze” and the title–cut “Redemption”, as well as six well-known Contemporary Christian songs, “The Power of Your Love”, “Give Me Jesus”, “Healing Rain”, “Surrender”, “How Great Is Our God” and “Take Up Your Cross.” Sandy recorded the CD with producer Paul Langford and many gifted musicians from the Chicagoland area. Sandy hopes that when people listen to the CD they will enjoy it aurally; just the sound of the CD should be enjoyable. But more importantly Sandy hopes that his lyrics and the lyrics of the great composers whose songs he’s covering will reinforce the listener’s faith and maybe even bring some non-believers a little closer to believing.
