Details:
After four years of planning and working on her second album, Shal Sagan has finally released "Tapestry of Life".

Born and bred in Sarawak, Malaysia, Shal Sagan is of mix parentage whose maternal roots go as far as Scotland. Shal’s interest in music was formed when she was at a very young age. Her parents loved music and would have music by The Beatles, Elvis, etc, playing during car rides or just on the stereo at home. By age five, she attended piano lessons, but her interest in piano switched to guitar a few years later.

When Shal turned twelve, she received her first classical guitar for Christmas, which gave her an outlet for expressing herself. She started writing her emotions into words and turning them Into music. This was also the time she started performing in front of audiences at gatherings. Her interest in rock music grew when she started ‘jamming’ at the studio with friends.

By the time she turned thirteen, her parents saw how passionate Shal was for music and during her birthday, bought her a bright pink electric guitar! Ever since then, she has been collecting guitars and other musical instruments. (...that’s probably where the obsession with pink came from…)

At sixteen, Shal attended the music club in school. Her first all-girl band which was named “Miz D’meaner” was formed there. During this time, she wrote several songs like “When Everything Seems like Nothing”, "If you wait" and with an ex-band member, Sarah, wrote “Petrified”.

Later that year, when two of the main members of Miz D’meaner left Kuching to further their studies, Shal was introduced to Karen by a mutual friend and together they created "Leesa Muse".

“Leesa Muse” produced several demos in Kuala Lumpur. These demos consisted of both Shal & Karen''s songs. As a band, they worked hand in hand on producing Shal''s songs, "Message in a bottle", "Death''s Fatal Kiss" & "Foolish Frailty". These songs were released on Shal''s debut album.

In November 2004, Shal launched her album entitled “A Special Note” in Kuching, Sarawak by Shzogawa Records, a record label conceptualized by Shal which helps in the production/recording/distributing & promotion of her products. The album was produced & recorded by Kiya of Zanzibar Studios and was mixed & mastered by Don Bartley of Studios 301 in Sydney, Australia.

“Shal''s ability to play the guitar and at the same time sing in her unique style portrays flair and gifts. Her creativity and ability as a budding and promising artiste should be an inspiration to all young people who aspires to excel in the world of music. Shal has created an icon for Sarawak, an icon for her family and an icon for herself. I believe Shal can one day reach her dream and go International”, said Hanifah Taib-Alsree, Executive Director of Kristal Harta Sdn Bhd - Cats Radio during the launching of “A Special Note”.

In 2006, Shal started working on her second album with Multi-Australian Recording Industry Awards engineer Greg Henderson. “Listening” is the first song to be recorded for this album. Throughout 2006 to 2008, Shal has been recording new material for the album. The album will consist of ten songs written, composed & sung by Shal.
"Tapestry of Life" hits the stores in November 2008.

Much as she would not like to admit it, Shal is a very gifted and talented songwriter and singer. However, Shal feels “the best is yet to come”.
