PHANTOM CREW (August 1989)
PHANTOM CREW was born as an outlet for vocalist R.K. BUSCH, guitarist JAMIE BONATCH, bassist RANDY WEITZEL, guitarist MIKE BALL and drummer MIKE BARNETT to escape their everyday lives to pen lyrics and perfect the music that they loved. The band ventured into Complex One Recording Studios to record their efforts in August of 1989. Two weeks later, they would leave there with their first power/thrash album, entitled simply, PHANTOM CREW.

Through self promotion and live performances, this five piece metal outfit generated a sizable following in and around the Pittsburgh area and landed an opening slot for thrash big boys OVERKILL. In February 1991, the band''s second release, PHANTOM CREW II, received widespread airplay on countless college radio metal shows throughout the U.S. and secured a No# 10. spot for the month of June on a Denmark station in 1992.

After a brief breakup in 1992, PHANTOM CREW reformed with new songs and a new member. The band featured guitarist JAMIE BONATCH owning vocal duties and former bassist RANDY WEITZEL assuming lead guitar. Drummer MIKE BARNETT and the addition of bassist KEVIN BARLEY completed the new line up. Self recorded and produced with a raw metal approach, the band released their third recording, a seven song offering entitled EXISTENCE. Pittsburgh''s Rock N'' Roll Reporter''s readers voted PHANTOM CREW runner up for best local heavy metal band in 1993.

1994''s NO COMPROMISE sessions captured the raw power of PHANTOM CREW. The release exhibited song writing maturity and displayed the diversity of the band as they explored various musical avenues. Favorable reviews of PHANTOM CREW''s recordings and live performances allowed the band to open for national acts such as OVERKILL, BELLADONNA (Joey Belladonna / Anthrax) and FIGHT (Rob Halford / Judas Priest).

Eight years and endless devotion brought the band upon the release of their blistering fifth recording, A VISIT FROM THE SEWAGE FAIRIES. Self recorded and produced, the band delivered an aggressive six song album and released the package as a XXX limited edition cassette.

Through hard work, perseverance, and a love for their craft, PHANTOM CREW garnered national as well as world wide recognition never treading into commercial waters, and after ten plus dedicated years, PHANTOM CREW retired.
