One of the freshest American underground records we''ve heard in a long time -- and a cosmically soulful set that''s every bit as great as anything coming out of the current London scene! Maryland-based Pixel work in a spacey blend of house and future soul -- giving equal parts to both aspects of the work, and shifting easily in mood and tone from track to track. A few notches to one side, and this might just be a one-off album of dance tracks -- but thanks to a keen vision from producer Kwesi Dawes, the record pushes forward with a brilliant post-4Hero mix of keys, beats, and righteous vocals! The whole thing''s great -- the kind of debut that would be looming large if it was issued on one of those fancy import labels -- and titles include "The Spirit Of Love", "Anger Against My Face", "Freedom", "Space Explorers", "People Need People", "Do You Miss Me", "Monkey Boy", and "Future Town"

This deep house / future soul album from Pixel (aka Kwesi Dawes from Maryland) and I must say that out of the 13 tracks included there wasn''t even one that I didn''t like, something that nowadays is exceedingly rare. For now my favourite remains number 5 entitled "Anger Against My Face " (Featuring Niela & Matthew Payne) but I am sure that during the next couple of days I will find another fave.... Excellent!
