Though Point Blank has been together for only three years, it''s members are no strangers to the New York metal scene. Their previous experiences in metal and hardcore bands have given them the opportunity to develop their chops alongside some of the best in the business.

Years spent sharing a stage and swapping experiences with the likes of Shadows Fall, Slayer''s Kerry King, Chimaira, Hatebreed, Biohazard, Death Angel, Kreator, Destruction, Exodus, Overkill, Symphony X, etc. have helped the band to build a strong following, as well as a thick skin and tireless work ethic. As a supporting act, their dynamic performances have captured the attention of the legendary headliners each time, along with club owners, sound engineers and other industry professionals. Most importantly, they can work a crowd.

"It''s always a great feeling when you see people reacting to your music. There''s nothing in the world like watching metal kids going nuts in a pit," said bassist, James Maloney, "I''ve also been approached by people who tell me they don''t usually listen to metal, but they loved the show. Then I see them at the next gig bringing their friends along. The idea of winning over even one new person in a crowd is what gets me going and makes me work that much harder."

Point Blank''s modern brand of metal has been compared to Disturbed, Stone Sour, Machinehead, and Sevendust. The music owes its fortitude to the influences of Slayer, Testament, Anthrax, and Pantera, while paying homage to arena rock gods, Iron Maiden, Kiss and Van Halen. They have managed to combine crushing riffs - raw with aggression, together with haunting melodies, instrumental virtuosity and showmanship to create a hard hitting, ballsy performance that seizes the crowd, making them part of the action. When Point Blank takes a stage, there is a true feeling of ownership and confidence - a palpable energy that rushes through the room, lingering after the final note.

Brian Cella, owner of three of LI''s most successful nightclubs, The Village Pub, VP South and the Crazy Donkey, has named Point Blank in Good Times Magazine as one of the Top 5 Outstanding Unsigned Acts on Long Island. According to Brian, "They''re the best thing since Pantera".

The band''s first independent release, Cast the First Stone, is the product of their work-study program in the art of DIY. Thousands of flyers, discs, e-mails, postcards, t-shirts etc. have been handmade and distributed by the band. Throughout the recording process, the band generated a buzz by distributing over 1800 sampler discs at every record store, metal concert, and rock club in the NY area. They have played every available show from all day/all night festivals to multiple set 3-hour gigs where they were the only act on the bill.

Their years of dedication and hard work have begun to pay off. Point Blank has been featured on News 12''s Long Island Band Spotlight, and interviewed on several local college radio stations. Tracks from Cast the First Stone have been used in soundtracks for two independent film projects.

On November 5, 2003, Point Blank celebrated the release of Cast the First Stone by playing an in-store concert at Looney Tunes Records in West Babylon, NY. Over 160 people braved a torrential rainstorm and turned out for the event, which according to storeowner, Karl Groeger Jr., was "the most successful local band in-store since Taking Back Sunday". A record number of discs sold that night, earning Point Blank the #1 spot on the store''s weekly bestseller list.
