This was a neat little band here. The band play power pop punk with a bit of hardcore edge to them. I can''t even compare them to any bands as the band sound fresh and very different to these ears. They play sort of a raw Motorhead sound with a more of a punk edge to them. The singer has a gruff voice that fits the music well. The production is raw and meaty and the tunes are catchy almost basement sounding. The tunes will have you tapping your feet and the dirty basement sound was a welcome change to these ears that are sick of hearing the same thing all the time. (Chris Forbes)

An Akron punk/garage-rock band featuring veterans from other regional acts such as the Rubber City Rebels, Teacher''s Pet and the Nimrods, the Againsters don''t take themselves too seriously on A Few Notes on Darwin. And that''s a good thing. Between joking about one of alt-rock''s most revered bands in the Queen-like number "(Bring Me the Head of) Radiohead" and boasting about just how difficult they can be in "No One Fucks With Me," the guys veer into Dead Milkmen/Camper Van Beethoven territory when it comes to their sense of humor. The music is a nice combo of garage and punk, and the guys throw a bit of harmonica in the mix on the title track and emphasize the keyboards in "My Girl''s Gone Wild." While that hardly makes the disc qualify as "eclectic," that the guys can pull it off is a testament to their musical skill. - (Jeff Nielsen)
