Details:
Project 164 is an improvisational jazz/groove quartet based out of Baton Rouge, LA. While listening to groups like Medeski Martin & Wood, the Roots, Our Lady Peace, and everything in between, the guys refined their musical skills on the freelance jazz circuit, where they met.

Project 164''s debut album, "Can You Relate?" is half composed tunes, half improvisational tracks created spontaneously in the studio. Tracks like "I Don''t like Project 164" display the ever-present influence of Grant Green on guitarist Jesse Kees. "Space Dinosaurs" is a groovin'' little tune that is kicked off and held together by Josh Nee''s pocket bass lines. Simon Lott''s drums explode to start "Grits Minus One," a musical frenzy that could best be described as free jazz - a very rocking homage to Ornette Coleman. The next track, "High-Fives All Around" sounds like a tune out of Soulive''s book. Patrick Cronin throws down some soul on piano on the track, "For Momma" - the very Coldplay-ish ballad.
