Karen’s story behind this album:
I am a writer, but when my husband, Bob, died of cancer at age 38, I had no words. For months I couldn''t write, not even in a journal. Then one night while standing in my kitchen trying to cook dinner, I began to sing. I sang about our stories, about celebrating life. I loved telling Bob’s stories, our stories. Yet I desperately missed his touch, his smell, his laugh. Could our stories bridge Heaven and Earth? Could they connect us on this journey?
Bob was a music connoisseur. Music filled our lives together. He could select the perfect song for any occasion. I was sure this song that played over and over in my head was a gift from Bob, my angel bringing God’s grace. I recorded it and gave it to our family and friends that first Christmas. And I kept writing and singing.
As the months went by, I struggled with more questions about life, after life, purpose, destiny. What is it like in Heaven? What does our relationship mean now?
Music is such a powerful healer. I wanted to share the words I''d found with someone else who might need them. This journey of grief is full of sorrow, but also joy and hope and grace. These songs helped me sort through my beliefs and find faith to go on celebrating life. A little bit of faith brought me through. I hope this CD will inspire you and bring a little bit of faith for your journey, too, no matter what that journey brings.
