Neos Productions is pleased to announce the release of Chants of the Islands, a collection of hula chants performed by Palani Agosto, Kumu hula of Namakalaniakamaluhia.
Palani studied under Kumu hula Frank Palani Kahala, from whom he received the blessing to teach hula, and the name for his halau, which means, "the eyes of heaven with peace."
Instructing his students to perform in the very same way he was taught, Palani believes he is fulfilling his calling as kumu; honoring those who have gone before him while passing on his knowledge to the next generation. Namakalaniakamaluhia has performed at various hula festivals throughout the islands since 1996, garnering awards for Kahiko and Auana.
