After three previous strong album releases (Rhyme Reneisance- 1999, Playing for Keeps- 2000, and Sample This- 2003), D.L.O. is coming out with his fourth independent album, Customer Service. In the business of customer service, it’s said that quality in a service or product is not what you put into it but what the client or customer gets out of it.
Some of his hit songs like, “Congratulations”, is becoming very popular in Madison’s hip-hop scene. The song talk’s about marriage and strong single mothers. “Congratulations” is similar to Tupac’s “Keep Ya Head Up” with an underground vibe to it. According to D.L.O., “On the Grind is the next favorite because people like to hear about money with some ego mixed in.” He also believes that college radio listeners will be big fans of “From the Soul”, “The Truth is Revealed,” and “Life is Just Like That.” “People that are unhappy will like these songs. I got a little something for everybody,” says D.L.O. This is another great aspect of D.L.O, his knowledge of issues in today’s society and reaching out to those fans. This ability to reach out to different types of people has allowed him to attract a wide range of fans.
The goal of D.L.O. as an artist with his album release is to provide and perform “customer service” that is not just the best, but legendary. His talent is what keeps him out of the shadows of his competition and allows him to be great.
Recent review of Customer Service:
DLO''s Album "Customer Service" is the true essence of intelligent rap music. His rhymes have me reminiscing on the classic hip-hop styles of Pete rock & CL Smooth with a twist of Lupe, with beats that keep you cruzin'' the streets for days. He pulls no gimmicks and I can feel the passion and soul in his music, especially on the "Truth is Revealed".
Customer Service is very polished and gives you a breath of fresh air from the monotony of today''s radio drones. If you dig the underdog, the underground or the under-appreciated, then this is one album worth checking out.
